Konami Digital Entertainment B.V. (KONAMI) has announced that its popular Yu‑Gi‑Oh! TRADING CARD GAME (TCG) will be part of the new “cards and boards” area at gamescom 2024, the world’s largest event for computer and video games.
Throughout gamescom, which will take place from the 21-25 August in Cologne, Germany, fans can visit the Yu‑Gi‑Oh! booth in Hall 5.2 – which will be even bigger than in previous years. At the booth, visitors will have the possibility to learn the card game with the new 2-Player Starter Set. A dedicated team of experts will explain how to play the popular Yu‑Gi‑Oh! TCG to newcomers, and attendees who haven’t played for a longer time will have a chance to get back to the game with a lot of their favourite cards from their youth. There will also be a dedicated tournament area, where the community will be able to compete and win different prizes.
In addition to the Yu‑Gi‑Oh! TCG, both of the popular digital Yu‑Gi‑Oh! games will be available to play: Yu‑Gi‑Oh! MASTER DUEL and Yu‑Gi‑Oh! DUEL LINKS. Experienced staff will guide the visitors through the games and explain the different mechanics, like Rush Duel and Speed Duel for Yu‑Gi‑Oh! DUEL LINKS for example.
Similarly, to previous years, attendees will also be able to bolster their collections with the latest Yu-Gi-Oh TCG products and step into the Photo Box to see how they’d look like as part of the iconic Dark Magician card.
Finally, there will be lots of special events taking place at the Yu‑Gi‑Oh! booth during gamescom 2024:
- Rescue the Rabbit! – An already very popular tournament format, introduced at last year’s German National Championship. Participants compete against Special Duelists, and if they beat all three, they can enter a raffle to win an adorable Rescue Rabbit plush.
- Time-Wizard March 2010 – Only Decks with cards released before March 2010 are allowed in this tournament, one that is always very much in demand by the community. The winner gets the special “Time Wizard Game Mat”.
- Further tournaments – From 21-25 August, Duelists can take part in a variety of other Yu‑Gi‑Oh! TCG tournament events at the booth. These include Duel the Master and King of the Hill. 8-player Game Mat Challenge tournaments will also be available on demand.
- 2-Player Game Mat Special Offer: Attendees at gamescom will have the chance to acquire the new 2-player Game Mat. This Game Mat is not provided by retailers, so if you want to get your hands on this item, drop by the Yu‑Gi‑Oh! booth to find out more details.
