Errata Cards

The following cards have had their effects change as a result of new updates to their card effect texts. This changes how these cards function during a Duel.

Please use the “New Text” section below when applying the effect of these cards, as that is now the correct effect.

If you are using an “Old Text” version of a card in your Deck, you must make it clear to your opponent that the effect of that particular card is different to what you are currently playing.

The best way to do this is to do one of the following:

  • Have a printout of this page available.
  • Have a printout of the Yu‑Gi‑Oh! TCG Card Database entry for any card(s) you are using.
    (If you click on a card name below, it will take you to that card’s database entry.)
  • Have a physical copy of a “New Text” version of the card on-hand to use as reference.
    (This physical copy must not form part of your Deck or be placed within your Deck Case.)

Dark Magician of Chaos

Old Text

When this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can target 1 Spell Card in your Graveyard; add that target to your hand. Banish any monster destroyed by battle with this card. If this face-up card would leave the field, banish it instead.

New Text

During the End Phase, if this card was Normal or Special Summoned this turn: You can target 1 Spell Card in your Graveyard; add it to your hand. You can only use this effect of “Dark Magician of Chaos” once per turn. If this card destroys an opponent’s monster by battle, after damage calculation: Banish that opponent’s monster. If this face-up card would leave the field, banish it instead.


Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer

Old Text

If this card is Special Summoned: You can target up to 2 cards you control; destroy them, and if you do, add “Performapal” monsters with different names from your Deck to your hand, except “Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer”, equal to the number of monsters destroyed. You can only use this effect of “Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer” once per turn.

New Text

If this card is Special Summoned: You can target up to 2 cards you control; destroy them, and if you do, add “Performapal” monsters with different names from your Deck to your hand, except “Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer”, equal to the number of cards destroyed. You can only use this effect of “Performapal Pendulum Sorcerer” once per turn.


Catapult Turtle

Old Text

You can Tribute 1 monster; inflict damage to your opponent equal to half the Tributed monster’s ATK on the field.

New Text

Once per turn: You can Tribute 1 monster; inflict damage to your opponent equal to half the Tributed monster’s ATK on the field.


Sinister Serpent

Old Text

During your Standby Phase, if this card is in your Graveyard: You can return it to your hand.

New Text

During your Standby Phase, if this card is in your Graveyard: You can add it to your hand, also banish 1 “Sinister Serpent” from your Graveyard during your opponent’s next End Phase. You can only use this effect of “Sinister Serpent” once per turn.


Dark Strike Fighter

Old Text

1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monstersYou can Tribute 1 monster to inflict damage to your opponent equal to its Level x 200.

New Text

“1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters.

During your Main Phase 1: You can Tribute 1 monster; inflict damage to your opponent equal to the Tributed monster’s Level on the field x 200. You can only use this effect of “”Dark Strike Fighter”” once per turn.


Temple of the Kings

Old Text

The controller of this card can activate Trap Cards the same turn they are Set. If you control “Mystical Beast of Serket” and this card, you can send both to the Graveyard to Special Summon 1 monster from your hand, Deck, or Extra Deck.

New Text

You can activate 1 Trap Card the turn it was Set. You can send 1 “Mystical Beast of Serket” in your Monster Zone and this card you control to the Graveyard; Special Summon 1 monster from your hand or Deck, or 1 Fusion Monster from your Extra Deck. You can only use each effect of “Temple of the Kings” once per turn.


Crush Card Virus

Old Text

Tribute 1 DARK monster with 1000 or less ATK; check your opponent’s hand, all monsters they control, and all cards they draw until the end of your opponent’s 3rd turn after this card’s activation, and destroy all monsters with 1500 or more ATK.

New Text

Tribute 1 DARK monster with 1000 or less ATK; your opponent takes no damage until the end of the next turn after this card resolves, also, you look at your opponent’s hand and all monsters they control, and if you do, destroy the monsters among them with 1500 or more ATK, then your opponent can destroy up to 3 monsters with 1500 or more ATK in their Deck.


Exchange of the Spirit

Old Text

Activate only while there are 15 or more cards in your Graveyard. Pay 1000 Life Points. Both players swap the card(s) in their Graveyard with the card(s) in their Deck. Then, both players shuffle their Decks.

New Text

If both players have 15 or more cards in their Graveyards: Pay 1000 LP; each player swaps the cards in their Graveyard with the cards in their Deck, then shuffles their Deck. You can only activate 1 “Exchange of the Spirit” per Duel.


Ring of Destruction

Old Text

Target 1 face-up monster on the field; destroy that target, and if you do, inflict damage to both players equal to that target’s ATK.

New Text

During your opponent’s turn: Target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls whose ATK is less than or equal to their LP; destroy that face-up monster, and if you do, take damage equal to its original ATK, then inflict damage to your opponent, equal to the damage you took. You can only activate 1 “Ring of Destruction” per turn.
