Time Wizard
Time Wizard FAQ
In Effect as of July 1st, 2022
SECTIONS
INTRODUCTION:
Time Wizard is a format which allows the OTS to select a date in time. Participants must use that date to determine which released cards can be used, as well as the Forbidden & Limits List was active during that date.
This alternate format is designed to encourage Duelists to enjoy the full history of the Yu‑Gi‑Oh! TRADING CARD GAME (TCG).
Difficulty: Casual to Competitive
BASIC RULES:
Time Wizard tournaments require the OTS to select a period in time to host the event. The Forbidden & Limited List, available card pool, and game rules and mechanics are then made to match that selected period.
To find out when Time Wizard is rewinding your tournament to, the name of the event (as displayed in NEURON) will contain the date that the event would be hosted.

ADDITIONAL RULES:
Here are some additional rules and variations your OTS can use. If you have any questions about any possible variations on your OTS’ Time Wizard event, please reach out to your OTS.
Time Wizard events can use either the Advanced or Traditional Forbidden & Limited Card List from the selected time period.
Only cards released up to the date listed in the event name are allowed to be played; however, you do not need a version of that card which was released by that date.
Example: At a Time Wizard – January 30th 2015; Dante, Traveller of the Burning Abyss was released in Duelist Alliance during August 2014 and is therefore eligible to play – you may however choose to play the version released in Battles of Legend: Monstrous Revenge. It is only important that the card is released by the date of the event, not the product you obtained it from.
If a card had received updated text after the selected time period, Duelists would play the card using the text without the updated text.
Example: Chaos Emperor Dragon – Envoy of the End being used in an 30th April 2005 Time Wizard event will use the card text using its original text, and not the errata’d text from 2018.
