Starting from this Spring, the Link Monsters "リンクモンスター" and Link Summoning "リンク召喚" that debut in the Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS animation will debut in the OCG too!
Starting from March 25, 2017 along with the Starter Deck that includes those Link Monsters, the new Master Rule will be applied!
Checkout the new points from the previous "Master Rule 3" and experience the new form of dueling!
The Duel Field has been updated, expanding the monster zones to allow you to Summon out a 6th monster.
Link Monsters are the new monsters that can be Summoned from the Extra Deck!
Link Markers provide a new form of battle strategy, and this new type of monster cannot be in Defense Position(and have no DEF).
Link Summons (Similar to Synchro Summons and Xyz Summons) use face-up monsters on the field as its materials for this new Summoning method.
Let's introduce this Link Summon here for you to Summon out your Link Monsters from the Extra Deck!
To start, here are the basics of Link Summons.
Link Summon Basics①
Uses face-up monsters on the field as its materials.
Link Summon Basics②
When Link Summoning a "Link-n" monster, you must have "n" amounts of Link materials.
(※With same number as "n" )
Basic Link Summoning would count 1 monster as 1 Link Material.
Link Summon Basics③
The conditions of the monster that can be used as a Link material are written under the monster type of the link monster on the card.
Here is an example!
Here's another thing of the basics to Link Summoning.
Link Summon Basics④
A “Link-n” monster counts as “n” amounts of Link materials.
(※With same number as "n" )
For example, a "Link-2" monster counts as 2 materials when to be used for a Link Summon.
When using it to Summon a "デコード・トーカー", whose material could be as "2 or more Effect Monsters", in addition to using "3 Effect Monsters", you can also use a 1 "Link-2" Effect Monster and 1 Effect Monster to Link Summon it instead.
The new Monster type "Cyberse-Type" debuts!
This is a monster type used by the main protagonist of the new animation "Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS" and there will be more "Cyberse-Type" monsters to be introduced in the future.
Here are the changes from the previous "Master Rule 3"!
The Monster Zones from the past will be now renamed as "Main Monster Zones".
The Pendulum Zones will be integrated into the Spell & Trap Card Zones which are located at both the left and right ends.
When Summoning Fusion, Synchro, Xyz or Pendulum monsters from the Extra Deck, they will be Special Summoned to your Extra Monster Zone.
(If you are Special Summoning monsters from anywhere besides the Extra Deck, you will use the Main Monster Zones as before.)
However, there are ways to Special Summon monsters aside from your Extra Monster Zone.
Main Monster Zones pointed by “Link Markers” of your Link Monster can be used to Special Summon monsters from your Extra Deck.
More Link Monsters will arrive one after the other in the future to achieve the victory!
In this case, the 2 Main Monster Zones become as the zones that can be used to Special Summon monsters from the Extra Deck!
Q: If a Link, Fusion, Synchro, XYZ monster comes out to the field by a regular procedure and is later sent to the Graveyard,
which zone does it go to if you Special Summon it with "死者蘇生"?
A: It goes into the Main Monster Zone, not the Extra Monster Zone.
Q: Can you activate "月の書" on Link Monsters?
A: Direct attack can't be allowed. Even if your opponent's monster only in the Extra Monster Zone, you should treat it as a monster in the main monster zone.
Q: If your opponent’s monster is only in their Extra Monster Zone, can you attack them directly?
A: Direct attack can’t be allowed. Even if you opponent's monster only in the Extra Monster Zone, you should treat it as a monster in the main monster zone.
Q: Are the Spell / Trap Cards Set in the Left and right end Spell & Trap Zones destroyed by the effect of "揺れる眼差し"?
A: The left and right end of Spell & Trap Zones will be treated as Pendulum Zones,
only if a card is placed there by activating Pendulum Monster Card from the hand or by an effect to place a Pendulum Monster Card on a Pendulum Zone.
A Spell / Trap Card which is set or activated from the hand will not be treated as a card on a Pendulum Zone, so it cannot be destroyed "揺れる眼差し" in this case.
Q: If you activate "精神操作" by targeting the opponent's monster in the Extra Monster Zone, which zone will that monster to be placed?
A: That monster will be placed in the Main Monster Zone of the player who activated the "精神操作".
Also, when control of that monster is returned to the opponent, that monster will be placed in the opponent’s Main Monster Zone.
Q: Can you use the Token or Trap Monster as material of Link Summoning?
A: If it can meet the requirements of the materials needed for the Link Monster (e.g. Normal Monster, etc.), then you can use the Token or Trap Monster as material of Link Summoning.
