This round we feature Steven Tsui who has come back off a 10 year retirement and Yury who has been a dominant force in the Oceanic scene for a number of years now. They are also both in the Genesys tournament as well, also on the top rankings showing they are both flexible and good in multiple formats.

Game 1

Steven has a hand of Fydraulis Harmonia, Kewl Tune Clip, Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion, Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, The Fallen & The Virtuous

Yury has Black Chaos, 2 Dominus Impulse, Deception of the Sinful Spoils and Called by the grave.

Yury starts rolling a 12.

Yury starts discarding Black Chaos to place Mind Shuffle and attempts to use it. Steven has Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, Yury has Called By the Grave but Steven also has Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion. Yury sets 1 card and ends his turn.

Steven draws and sets a card. In the End Phase Yury attempts to use Mind Shuffle but Steven activates The Fallen & The Virtuous to destroy it sending Albion the Branded Dragon which allows him to set another The Fallen & The Virtuous

Yury draws Dominus Spark and sets it ending his turn

Steven draws Kewl Tune Rotary revealing Fydraulis Harmonia but after being summoned Yury banishes it with Dominus Spark

Yury draws another Dominus Impulse setting it and ending his turn

Steven draws and uses Kewl Tune Rotary again revealing Fydraulis Harmonia using them both to Synchro Summon Visas Amritara. He adds Kewl Tune Synchro and activates it but its stopped by Dominus Impulse

Yury draws Ragged Record of Rites and activates it revealing Light and Darkness Ritual to add Skull Archfiend of Chaos. He follows up with Deception of the Sinful Spoils but its destroyed by The Fallen & The Virtuous. Yury uses Skull Archfiend of Chaos to place his Mind Shuffle as well as Steven’s Ecclesia and the Dark Dragon and Albion the Branded Dragon to Special Summon Itself. Steven uses Kewl Tune Clip but Yury uses another Dominus Impulse. Yury attacks into Visas Amritara with Skull Archfiend of Chaos destroying them both but is able to send Light and Darkness Ritual from his deck to the graveyard and add Magician of Dark Chaos - Black Chaos to hand. Light and Darkness Ritual is able to add itself back to hand alongside Black Chaos and Yury also places Mind Shuffle to his field using Black Chaos. Yury uses Light and Darkness Ritual banishing a Black Chaos from his graveyard to Ritual Summon the Magician of Dark Chaos – Black Chaos adding back Called by the Grave from his graveyard and banishes Steven’s set. At this point Steven concedes.

Game 2

Steven will start, revealing Kewl Tune Reco and Kewl Tune Rotary to Synchro Summon Kewl Tune Track Maker. Steven adds Kewl Tune Synchro and JJ “Kewl Tune” and looks at Yury’s hand of Mind Shuffle, Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring, Lava Golem, The Hallowed Azamina and Triple Tactics Talents. Next he activates Duelist Genesis to add Synchro Overtake using it to reveal Kewl Tune RS to Special Summon Kewl Tune Reco from deck adding Kewl Tune Clip to hand. He Normal Summons Kewl Tune Cue to Special Summon Ghost Belle & Haunted Mansion from deck and then also activates JJ “Kewl Tune”. He uses Kewl Tune Clip and Kewl Tune Reco to Synchro Summon Kewl Tune Crackle banishing 2 monsters from Yury’s Extra Deck with one being Azamina Ilia Silvia. He then uses Kewl Tune Crackle and a Kewl Tune Reco to Synchro Summon Visas Amirtara. Yury assesses the situation and acknowledges he would be unable to win this game and concedes.

Game 3

Yury will start

Yury starts Deception of the Sinful Spoils and then The Hallowed Azamina using it to Fusion Summon Azamina Mu Rcielgo but its effect is stopped by Effect Veiler. Yury sets 3 traps and in the End Phase sets the Deception of the Sinful Spoils back from the graveyard.

Steven Draws and Yury activates Mind Shuffle but Steven stops it with The Fallen & The Virtuous. Steven activates Harpie’s Feather Duster clearing all of Yury’s cards and then Kewl Tune Synchro. Yury knows that’s enough extending the handshake.

2 more rounds to go and both players are on excellent scores both in this tournament and the Genesys and I’m sure we’ll see them in at least one of the playoffs.
