World Qualifying Points Playoff (Friday June 9th, 2023) Q: What are World Qualifying Points? A: World Qualifying Points are a way to earn an invite to the Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2023 outside of the WCQ. Duelists who earn WCQ invites throughout the course of the 2019-2022 Organized Play Extended Season (extended due to COVID-19 cancelations) and 2022-2023 Organized Play Season, and accurately complete their WCQ Invite Forms, will also earn “World Qualifying Points” which award additional invites to the Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2023 through a World Qualifying Points Playoff. For the 2022-2023 Organized Play season, the World Qualifying Points Playoff at the Central America WCQ 2023 will have the top 16 Duelists from the 2019-2022 Organized Play Season and the top 16 Duelists from the 2022-2023 Season.
Q: What is the Central America World Qualifying Points Playoff and how do I qualify to play in it? The Top 16 Points earners during the 2019-2022 Extended Season and the Top 16 Points earners during the 2022-2023 Season will be invited to a Playoff on Friday June 9th at the Central America WCQ, to earn an invite to the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG World Championship 2023. The World Qualifying Points Playoff is a Swiss, Advanced Constructed tournament with a cut to a Top 4. If any of the top World Qualifying Points Duelists from the 2019-2022 Extended Season are also top World Qualifying Points Duelists in the 2022-2023 Season, those spots will pass down to the next eligible Duelist in attendance from the 2022-2023 Season, for the World Qualifying Points Playoff. Eligible Duelists must be present to claim their spot and register to compete. If any of the Top Points earners are not present to play, the Playoff spot will then be given to the next ranked Duelist based on the country breakdown above. For example, if only 1 Duelist from Mexico is missing from the Top 16 Duelists from the 2019-2022 Extended Season, then the next Duelist in line to compete will be the ninth place Duelist from Mexico’s 2019-2022 leaderboard. Same example will apply for any other leaderboard and for the 2022-23 Season. Registration will close once all spots are filled or at 11:30AM Friday June 9th (whichever comes first). Q: If I’ve never been to a Central America WCQ 2023 tournament, what should I expect? A: The Central America WCQ 2023 is a prestigious Yu-Gi-Oh! tournament that attracts the best Duelists in Central America. Many Duelists travel great distances to attend the Central America WCQ 2023, so you can expect to meet hundreds of fellow Yu-Gi-Oh! fans from all over Central America and the Caribbean. There are a lot of things you should do to make sure you are prepared before heading to the tournament. Read over the list of things you will need for the tournament, and make sure you have everything. When you get to the event, you will need to register to play. You can register on Friday from 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM, or you can register on the morning of the event. If you live in the area or arrive early enough on Friday, you should definitely register then, it will save you a lot of time the following morning. Your Deck List will be collected at Registration. Make sure your Deck List is ready before you reach the front of the Registration line. If you need to register on the day of the event, get there early! Registration will open at 8:00 AM, and there will already be a line of people waiting. You’ll need to be in line by 9:45 AM, or you will not be able to enter the tournament when it begins. We must start without you, to make sure the event begins on time – you’ll still be able to play, but you will not be able to enter the tournament until the second round begins and you will start with a Round one Match loss. To register, you’ll need a Registration Form, a form of ID and your CARD GAME ID if you have one already. You can get a Registration Form at the event, or you can get one to print at home before the tournament by clicking on this link: English: https://www.yugioh-card.com/en/downloads/forms/KDE_RegistrationSheet.pdf Spanish: https://www.yugioh-card.com/en/downloads/sp/KDE_RegistrationSheet (SP-MX).pdf Make sure your Registration form is filled out completely before you reach the registration station. You will also need a CARD GAME ID – this is the ID number used to track you in the tournament. If you don’t already have one, you will be able to get one at the tournament. If you have a CARD GAME ID and have lost or forgotten it, you can ask the CARD GAME ID station to look it up for you. If you’ve played in a previous event, they may be able to retrieve your number. The CARD GAME ID station is kept separately from the Registration stations, so if you do not have a CARD GAME ID number or need it looked up, be sure to go to the CARD GAME ID station before getting in line to register. Once you have a completed Registration form and a CARD GAME ID, you can register for the tournament. You will also need a Deck List. A Deck List is required to participate in the Central America WCQ 2023 tournament. You can get a Deck List form at the event when you register, or you can download one to fill out ahead of time by clicking on this link: English: https://www.yugioh-card.com/en/downloads/forms/KDE_DeckList.pdf Spanish: https://www.yugioh-card.com/en/downloads/sp/KDE Deck List – Spanish Editable.pdf This is an editable PDF, so you will be able to type the card names in this form, which should help as your Deck List needs to be legible and complete – write the name of each card in full and write down how many copies you have in your Deck.
For some helpful tips on how to properly complete your Deck List, check out the following article on the official Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME (TCG) Strategy Site. https://yugiohblog.konami.com/articles/?p=3534 Your Deck List will be collected at Registration. Make sure your Deck List is ready before you reach the front of the Registration line. Once a Deck List has been submitted it can no longer be changed, NO EXCEPTIONS! Duelists are responsible for paying attention to information from judges and/or tournament staff in order to understand what is going on. If Duelists have questions about the event either beforehand or while they are there, they should check with the Event Manager. Before heading to the event, all Duelists should read over the KDE-US Tournament Policy and Penalty Guidelines carefully. These documents tell you what you can and cannot do at an event and give you a good idea of what to expect. You may find these guidelines by clicking the following links. KDE-US Official Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME Tournament Policy: https://www.yugioh-card.com/en/downloads/penalty_guide/YGOTCG_Policy_v_2_2.pdf Tournament Infractions and Penalties Policy: https://img.yugioh-card.com/en/downloads/penalty_guide/Penalty_Guidelines_v_2_2.pdf Remember, there is much more to do at the Central America WCQ 2023 than just compete in the Main Event. There are lots of Public Events, vendors buying and selling cards, and other Duelists to trade with. Read over the FAQ carefully, and you’ll be off to a great start. Public Events will be available as space opens up from the Main Event. If the venue reaches capacity, additional Duelists will not be allowed to enter the hall.
Q. Does KDE-US and/or its agents perform filming and photography at these events? A. Yes, by entering the premise of this event you agree to the following: When you enter a Yu-Gi-Oh! event or program, you are entering an area where photography, audio, and video recording may occur. By entering the event premises, you consent to photography, audio recording, interviews, video recording and its/their release, publication, exhibition, or reproduction to be used for promotional purposes, webcasts, telecasts, advertising, inclusion on websites, social media, or any other purpose by KONAMI, its affiliates and representatives. Images, photos and/or videos may be used to promote Yu-Gi-Oh! or KONAMI events in the future, to highlight the event and promote Yu-Gi-Oh! and KONAMI properties. You release KONAMI, its employees, representatives and all persons involved from any liability connected with the taking, recording, digitizing, or publication and use of photographs, computer images, video and/or sound recordings. By entering the event premises, you waive any rights you may have to any claims for payment or royalties in connection with any use, exhibition, streaming, web casting, televising, or other publication of these materials, regardless of the purpose or sponsoring of such use, exhibiting, broadcasting, web casting, or other publication, irrespective of whether a fee for admission or sponsorship is charged. You also waive any right to inspect or approve any photo, video, or audio recording taken by KONAMI, its agents or representatives. You have been fully informed of your consent, waiver of liability and release before entering the event. If you do not wish to be recorded or photographed, please do not enter the premises.
Q: I will be bringing my children to the Central America WCQ 2023. Is there anything I should know? A: We will have a Parents’ Lounge available, where parents can relax while their children are occupied in the tournament. This area is open only to parents and their children. You are not required to stay on site, but we strongly recommend that you do, especially if your children are young or if this is their first event. Please know that the tournament staff cannot be responsible for looking after your children, or their possessions. Always make sure your child has a way to contact you, and is provided with any necessities such as food, drink, or extra money if you do not wish to remain in the tournament area. When your child is preparing for the event, encourage him or her to leave any bulky or expensive possessions at home. Electronics and large collections of cards are hard to keep track of during a big tournament – your child will have a much easier day without having to worry about these kinds of items. Trading cards are a big attraction at large tournaments, but if you are concerned about your child trading away valuable cards, talk to him or her before the event and set some guidelines. You can always have your child check with you before making a trade.
Q: Will the Central America WCQ 2023 have the Bounty Feature? A: No, there will be no bounty feature at the Central America WCQ 2023.
Q: I won a Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series (YCS) or Remote Duel YCS event during the 2019 – 2022 qualifying season and/or the 2022-2023 season. Are there any perks for me at the Central America WCQ 2023? A: All Duelists who have won a Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series during the 2019 – 2022 and/or 2022-2023 qualifying seasons, World Qualifying Playoff 2023 participants, or any Ultimate Duelist Series Invitational Champions will receive VIP status and preferred seating at the Central America WCQ 2023. VIP Duelists will begin the tournament with a 2-Round BYE. Ultimate Duelist Series Invitational Champions are required to bring and present their UDS Championship Belt in order to receive VIP status. Duelists who are eligible for VIP status will register at the VIP station either Friday June 9tht, 2023 between 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM or Saturday June 10th, 2023 between 8:00 AM and 9:45 AM. VIPs will receive all participation items for the Central America WCQ 2023, while supplies last.
Q: Will there be meal breaks during the tournament? A: There will be a 30-minute meal break on Day 1 to allow Duelists to eat, as food and drink are not allowed inside the tournament hall. Announcements will be made the Round prior to the start of the break and a 30-minute time clock will be set. Players who do not arrive for the next Round on time will incur tardiness penalties.
Q: What if someone who came with me does not know how to play? A: If someone who is attending the Central America WCQ 2023 does not know how to play Yu-Gi-Oh!, do not worry. We will have capable volunteers on site who will be more than happy to teach them how to play.
Q: What happens if I am not done with my Match when time is called in the Round? A: Sometimes a Match will not be finished when the time ends for a round. If this happens, it is both Duelists’ responsibility to note whose turn it is when time is called. Duelists who require assistance with the End of Match procedures, should raise their hand and call for a Judge. The Judge should be notified that the Match is ongoing and whose turn it is. The judge may or may not stay to supervise the End of Match procedure but should ensure that both Duelists understand the following procedures. End of Match procedures should follow these three (3) rules: Rule #1: If time is called while Duelists are in the middle of a Game, the current Game must have a decision (Win, Loss, or Draw) Rule #2: Once the current Game has concluded with a decision, determine the winner of the Match by determining the number of Game Wins (or Game Losses) each Duelist has for the current Match. The Duelist with the most Game Wins will win the Match. Swiss Rounds: If both Duelists have the same number of Game Wins, or if time was called in between games of a Match when both Duelists had the same number of Game Wins, then the Match is a Draw. Single-Elimination Rounds: If both Duelists have the same number of Game Wins, or if time is called in between Games of a Match while both Duelists have the same number of Game Wins, they will begin a new Duel with specific guidelines.
Rule #3: If a win condition occurs during End of Match Procedures, that Duelist wins the current Game. Keeping these three (3) rules in mind, please follow these instructions when proceeding to End of Match procedures:
Match Draws cannot occur during Single-Elimination Rounds.

Q: If I’ve never been to a Central America Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Dragon Duel Championship tournament, what should I expect? A: The Central America Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Dragon Duel Championship is a prestigious Yu-Gi-Oh! tournament that attracts the best Dragon Duelists in Central America. Many Duelists travel great distances to attend the Central America Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Dragon Duel Championship, so you can expect to meet hundreds of fellow Yu-Gi-Oh! fans from all over Central America and the Caribbean There are a lot of things you should do to make sure you are prepared before heading to the tournament. A Deck List is required to participate in the Central America Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Dragon Duel Championship tournament.
TRADING CARD GAME Tournament Policy: https://www.yugioh-card.com/en/downloads/penalty_guide/YGOTCG_Policy_v_2_2.pdf Tournament Infractions and Penalties Policy: https://www.yugioh-card.com/en/downloads/penalty_guide/Penalty_Guidelines_v_2_2.pdf Remember, there is much more to do at the Central America Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Dragon Duel Championship than just compete in the Dragon Duel Championship or the Main Event. There are lots of Public Events, vendors buying and selling cards, and other Duelists to trade with. Read over the FAQ carefully, and you’ll be off to a great start. Public Events will be available as space opens up from the Main Event and the Dragon Duel Championship. If the venue reaches capacity, additional Duelists will not be allowed to enter the hall.
Q: I will be bringing my children to the Central America Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Dragon Duel Championship.
