El Segundo, Calif.  (March 6, 2017) – Hundreds of enthusiastic fans of the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME (TCG) packed the Georgia International Convention Center to play and support their peers at the recently completed Yu-Gi-Oh! CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES (YCS) Atlanta this past weekend. Hosted by Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. (KONAMI), this premier-level event gives players a chance to show off their skills and strategies while enjoying great camaraderie with their fellow Duelists.  YCS Atlanta crowned Corey Roca and Dragon Duel Champion, Jackson Sayre, making them the biggest stars of the weekend-long premier-level event.

YCS Atlanta was crowded with players of every age and ability as they showed off their expert Dueling skills during the course of the weekend.  On Sunday, Roca from Wilmington, DE learned that his Paleozoic Frog Deck proved its worth as he earned a spot in Day 2 of the tournament. Then, after several rounds of Single Elimination, he went head-to-head with Chase Cunningham from Wyoming, MI using a Zoodiac Deck in the final playoff.

In addition to bringing home the title of YCS Champion, Roca received a special set of prizes that included the new YCS prize card, an Ultra Rare Number 93: Utopia Kaiser, a YCS Championship Trophy, the new YCS Top Cut Game Mat, a PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system, 32 World Qualifying Points*, and an invitation and paid travel to his 2017 World Championship Qualifier (WCQ) tournament!

*The number of World Qualifying Points is awarded based on the final standings. For example, if there are 32 WCQ invites, the Duelist who comes in 1st place will earn 32 points, the 2nd place Duelist will earn 31 points, and so on.

Another exciting pairing over at the Dragon Duel tournament (an event for Duelists born in 2004 or later) were a series of Duels between Sayre from Chicago using his Zoodiac Deck against Thomas Armour IV in the finals, which drew crowds.  Sayre’s skill and strategy proved to be the winning combination as he beat Armour playing a Blue-Eyes Deck to capture the title of Dragon Duel Champion. He picked up some great prizes too, including a Dragon Duel Championship Trophy, a Regional Deck Box, a Dragon Duel T-shirt, a 2017 Regional Game Mat, and an invitation to his 2017 Dragon Duel World Championship Qualifier.
