El Segundo, CA (June 12, 2012) – Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. (Konami) brings Duelists from all over South America to Bogota, the capital and largest city of Colombia, for the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME (TCG) South American World Championship Qualifier (WCQ). The winner of this exclusive, invite-only tournament will represent South America at the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG World Championship. After months of skillful play at qualifying events and fine-tuning their Decks, those that have earned an invite will showcase their talents and strategies on June 23-24 at the Hotel Royal Park Metrotel. There will also be last chance qualifiers for the main and Dragon Duel events on Friday, June 22nd.
Hundreds of Duels will be played during the weekend event as some of the best players face off against each other. There will be plenty of intense head-to-head Dueling because all it takes is one misstep to be knocked out of the tournament. The competition starts from Round One on Saturday and climaxes at the Final Round Sunday, with every Duelist hoping to be the one destined to go to Tokyo, Japan to represent South America at the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG World Championship on August 11-12.
For the first time ever, Konami will hold a two-day Dragon Duel Championship for Duelists born 1999 or later during the same weekend (June 23-24) at the South American WCQ. The top finisher in the Dragon Duel Championship will also be going to Tokyo, Japan to play against other top Dragon Duelists in the inaugural Dragon Duel World Championship.
