Event Dates: May 28th – 29th, 2022

You can select more information from the drop-down menu at the top of this FAQ!

COVID-19 Restrictions for Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series Hartford 2022

Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. (KDE-US) has adopted a mandatory vaccination policy to protect the safety of its attendees.  Each attendee 5 years and older will be required to show proof of being up to date and fully vaccinated before entry. (This requirement may change depending on authorization of vaccines for the under 5 age group. We will update this FAQ as the situation evolves.) To be up to date and fully vaccinated, an attendee must have received their second dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna vaccine or a single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine, plus their recommended Booster dose if eligible, at least two weeks prior to the event.

Acceptable proof of COVID-19 vaccination includes;

  • CLEAR Yu-Gi-Oh! Event Health Pass
  • A CDC vaccination card, a WHO vaccination card, or a photo of either card (printed or on an electronic device). The card must state the name of the vaccinated person, the type of vaccine received, and the date of the last dose.  All players participating in tournaments and any spectators 18 and older must also show a photo ID that matches the identifying information on the vaccination card.
  • Electronic vaccination records provided by a government entity

To assist with the COVID-19 restrictions, KDE-US has partnered with CLEAR Health Pass.   Duelists can sign up for free at https://clear.app.link/YUGIOHEVENTS and then upload their vaccination information with CLEAR to create a Yu-Gi-Oh! Event Pass that can be easily shown on their phone.

Children under the age of 5 will not be required to show proof of vaccination, but instead must show documentation of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 24 hours of the event.  The test must be a molecular or antigen test with Emergency Use Authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.  Home tests will not be accepted.  The documentation must show the test result, the type of test, the entity issuing the test, and the date of test.

Attendees who are unable to receive a COVID-19 vaccine due to a medical condition must instead show proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 24 hours of the event.  In addition to the requirements listed above for showing proof of a negative test, these attendees must provide documentation from a healthcare provider verifying that the attendee has a medical exemption from vaccination.  This verification must state the attendee’s name, the fact that the attendee is medically exempt, and must be signed by a healthcare provider.

KDE-US will be checking proof of vaccination, proof of negative test results, and medical exemption documentation at the entrance of the event.  KDE-US reserves the right to refuse entry to attendees who do not comply with this policy.

Face Masks must be worn at all times during the event.

There will not be a dedicated food service area for eating and drinking inside Hall A.  Food and beverages may not be consumed in any area of the event space. Duelists will be able to leave the hall to get food and drink but are responsible for returning on time for any subsequent Matches.  If a Duelist has a medical condition that would require them to have food or beverage during a Match, they should let the Head Judge know prior to the start of the event so we can see what accommodations can be made.

Q: Why are rounds 45 minutes for YCS Hartford 2022? *NEW*

A: Thanks to the experience gained through Remote Duel events, we have seen some promising side effects of extending Rounds to 50 minutes to help accommodate difficulties inherent in Remote Duel. So, we are taking this opportunity as our return to in-person YCS to test the effect of extending the length of Rounds by 5 minutes. This is a test for this event and is not guaranteed to continue at future events. As you are Dueling your way to becoming the next YCS Champion, please feel free to stop by the main stage and offer any feedback to the KDE-US representative to help us better understand the effects of this test!

Q: Will there be meal breaks during the tournament?

A: There will be a 30-minute meal break on Day 1 to allow Duelists to eat, as food and drink are not allowed inside the tournament hall. Announcements will be made the Round prior to the start of the break and a 30-minute time clock will be set. Players who do not arrive for the next Round on time will incur tardiness penalties.

Q: When can I register for YCS Hartford 2022?

A: For this YCS, Duelists will need to register online to secure a seat to compete at YCS Hartford 2022.

  • Space is limited.
  • Duelists who successfully register must still arrive at YCS Hartford and check in on Friday May 27th, 2022 between 12:00 PM ET and 6:00 PM ET to confirm their seat in the Tournament or their seat will be forfeited, and their entry will be refunded after the YCS.

We urge you to register online for the event due to seating capacity, and also have your vaccination status verified. You will be given a wristband once your status has been verified. Please keep this wristband on at all times during the weekend, so that you do not need to be checked each time you enter the venue. Checking-in on Friday will ensure that your re-entry on Saturday morning will go more smoothly, allowing the event to start on time.

Q: When do I turn in my Deck List for the YCS?

A: Deck Lists are due by 10:00 AM ET Friday May 27th, 2022.

  • Duelists who do not turn in their Deck Lists by 10:00 AM ET on Friday May 27th, 2022 will automatically forfeit their seat and their entry will be refunded after the YCS.
  • Deck Lists must be submitted through the online system. Physical copies of a Deck list will not be accepted onsite for the YCS.

Once a Deck list has been submitted it can no longer be changed.

Q: How do I turn in my Deck List for the YCS?

A: Please create your Deck List at

https://yugiohregistration.com/Decks/MyDeckLists.aspx. Once you have created your Deck List, you can submit it at https://yugiohregistration.com/Events/MyEvents.aspx. Simply find the Submit Deck List link for the YCS event to find the page where you can select the name of the Deck List you have created for the event. We recommend giving each Deck List you create a unique name, so that you don’t submit the incorrect Deck List.

Q: How do I check in at the YCS?

A: Registered Duelists just need to arrive onsite at the Hartford Convention Center between 12:00 PM and 6:00 PM on Friday May 27th and follow the signs to check in and confirm your seat in the YCS. If you are not able to check in on Friday May 27, 2022 prior to 6:00 PM due to travel or other issues, you will need to contact Evans Event Management at YCS.Hartford.TO@gmail.com no later than 11:00 AM on Friday May 27th, to make alternative check-in arrangements.

Q: If Online Registration is sold out, is there anything I can do to participate at YCS Hartford 2022?

A: Duelists who register have two deadlines to meet or their seats are forfeit. Any seats that become available will only be open to Duelists on site at the Hartford Convention Center on Friday May 27th, 2022. There is NO GUARANTEE any seats will become available if online registration sells out, so if you are not local to, or planning to be in Hartford, CT on the weekend of the YCS, we do not recommend you arrange travel and hotel without a confirmed seat to compete in the YCS. Seating will be limited, and Public events alone are no reason to travel long distances. There will be more YCS, so please keep that in mind if you are unable to register for this event.
