ALPAY ENGIN DEFEATS 1454 CHALLENGERS TO EMERGE VICTORIOUS AT BIGGEST EVER EUROPEAN YU-Gi-OH! CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES IN BOCHUM

18-year old from Cologne captures the prestigious title of YCS winner at Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH’s premier event

More than 1450 players from all over Europe came to the Ruhr region on February 23/24 to Duel for the title of 2013’s first European Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series (YCS) winner, making this the biggest Yu-Gi-Oh! event on European soil so far. After 16 rounds, Engin was the one to celebrate the most at the RuhrCongress in Bochum, Germany.

With his Wind-up Deck, Alpay ultimately faced Stefano Memoli from Italy and his Fire Fist-Deck in an exciting final on Sunday afternoon. Both players had already proven their skills in 15 rounds throughout the weekend, but it took one more tense match before Alpay made the decisive move in the final, playing Wind-Up Magician and Sangan and defeating Memoli.

In addition to the impressive title of a YCS winner, Engin now also calls a cool prize package his own, containing  a trophy, Notebook PC and an exclusive YCS Prize Card, as well as paid travel and accommodation to the 2013 World Championship Qualifier tournament – the European Championship this summer.

Everyone who did not participate in the main tournament had several possibilities to Duel in other exciting events throughout the weekend, including tournaments to win giant Yu-Gi-Oh! cards, gamemats and other popular prizes, like additional copies of the YCS Prize Card "Digvorzhak, King of Heavy Industry". One very special tournament was the YCS Trial on Sunday in which Vincent Ralambomiadana from France was awarded a paid trip to an upcoming YCS event in Europe.

Duelists do not have to wait long for their next weekend full of exiciting Dueling against players from all over Europe: On April 27/28, the Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series will have its next stop in Lille, France!
