Yu-Gi-Oh!’s tournament structure for 2010 revealed!

Dear duelists,

Before the year comes to an end, we want to give you an overview of what to expect for 2010 regarding Organized Play for the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME. We know you have been eagerly awaiting news regarding the new European tournament structure, and can promise it will give you plenty of exciting opportunities to duel both casually and competitively, in your local store as well as on a larger level.

In addition to the regular, local tournaments where you can win Turbo Packs - of which we will release a new series very soon, by the way - and the Sneak Peeks, which are already running, we will bring you the following programs in 2010:

The “Duelist League” is designed as an open dueling system for younger players. Duelists gather in an informal environment without strict tournament structure, with prize cards on the line for everyone.

Another league, “Pegasus League” is an opportunity for duelists to try out new creative deck strategies. Additional deckbuilding rules are in place for these tournaments (for example, players could be required to use cards only of a certain rarity). These rules change every few months, creating constant deckbuilding challenges.

Both these leagues should be kicking off in your local stores no later than mid-February.

For the more competitive players, we will naturally offer National Championships. These will be preceeded by a number of Qualifiers, either regional or local, which will offer a qualification to the top players. Nationals are planned to be run between May and June, while National Qualifiers will launch in January already!

If you finish high enough in these Nationals, you will earn a qualification to the European Championship, which will be run late June or early July.

The second half of the year will see the introduction of a new tournament series called “Signers’ Challenge”. These will lead to the “Signers’ Finals”, which will mark the end-of-year tournament climax on national level.

For each of those programs, we will post event details soon, so stay tuned to www.yugioh-card.com! For now, we trust that you are as excited about this news as we are, and continue to enjoy the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME.

Happy holidays!
