Konami presents: The Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship!
This year’s contest for the highest honours in both the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game and the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s World Championship 2011: Over The Nexus video game will take place in Amsterdam’s Westergasfabriek, on August 13th-14th.
At this unique location, 26 of the world’s best TCG Duelists will gather to pit their skills against each other in a knock-out competition spanning eight rounds. Similarly, the best 12 players of KONAMI’s Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s World Championship 2011: Over The Nexus will also convene for an equally hot competition.
Of course, this exciting two-day event is not only for the 38 qualified players: It will also offer various Public Events and other activities open for all Yu-Gi-Oh! fans – thus everyone is invited to come and visit and this way be part of this year’s World Championship!
To participate in those Public events and be part of the World Championship 2011, no qualification is required, and all Public events are free of charge!

Main Event Structure
- The Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship will be Advanced Constructed format, following an event-specific Limited and Forbidden Cards list.
- The TCG Duelists will play five rounds of Swiss play on Saturday, with a cut to Top 8. The Top 8 will return Sunday to play in the single-elimination portion to determine a winner.
- The video game Duelists will play four rounds of Swiss play on Saturday, with a cut to Top 8. The Top 8 will return Sunday to play in the single-elimination portion to determine a winner.
Public Events
Some of the special World Championship prizes that will only be available there!
KONAMI offers many exciting activities during those two days, namely a feature match area where you can watch the top Duels of the main event, and a wide selection of Public Events, ranging from casual to highly-competive events. Among others, there will be:
- Duelist League – casual League play for young players
- Win-a-mat – some fine and limited gamemats to win (e.g. YCS mats)
- „Win-a-pack“ - Winner receives a special World Championship 2011 promo pack!
- Dragon Duel – for players born in 1998 and later
- WCQ Regionals – offering qualification to the 2012 European Championship
All those Public events will be free of charge! In addition to that, there will be several non-tournament attractions, for example video game consoles, or a booth where you can create your own Yu-Gi-Oh! token cards! With all those attractions, attending the Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship will be a thrilling experience for everyone!

Travel
Free shuttle buses to the Westergasfabriek will depart every half hour from the Amsterdam Centraal train station, in front of the „Victoria Hotel“.

Buying and Selling of cards at the event
There will be a number of vendors present, selling sealed product, and card supplies such as sleeves and deck boxes. Duelists are not allowed to buy or sell from one another at this event. If you do so, you risk incurring penalties, including being disqualified and removed from the event.
For parents
We will have a Parents’ Area available, where parents can relax while their children are occupied in the tournament. This area is open only to parents and their children. You are not required to stay on site, but we strongly recommend that you do, especially if your children are young or this is their first event. Please know that the tournament staff cannot be responsible for looking after your children, or their possessions. Always make sure your child has a way to contact you, and is provided with any necessities such as food, drink, or extra money if you do not wish to remain in the tournament area.
When your child is preparing for the event, encourage him or her to leave any bulky or expensive possessions at home. Electronics and large collections of cards are hard to keep track of during a big tournament – your child will have a much easier day without having to worry about these kinds of items.
Trading cards is a big attraction at large tournaments, but if you are concerned about your child trading away valuable cards, talk to him or her before the event and set some guidelines. You can always have your child check with you before making a trade.
