Fittingly enough here at “The Best Four Days In Gaming” we have our first-ever four-time SHONEN JUMP Champion! We saw Lightsworn, Synchro Cat, Gladiator Beast, and Black Salvo Decks compete in the Top 16, but it was Blackwings that won the day in the hands of Fili Luna!
Winning four matches straight was no easy feat for the new four-time Champ. Sneaking into Day 2 in 16th place, he had to Duel against the undefeated first-seed Chris Evans, in a brutal match that pitted Fili’s Blackwings against Black Salvo. From there he took on Adam Corn and Dale Bellido, before Dueling Matt Hoey in the finals. Hoey has never Made Day 2 before but has long been a fixture of the SHONEN JUMP Championship scene. Fili claimed a photo-finish victory over Hoey’s Synchro Cat Deck in Duel 3, as a chain of “Solemn Judgments” backfired on his opponent and left Fili with a game-winning “Icarus Attack”!
It’s been a huge weekend here at Gen Con Indianapolis. Even as we finish up the main event, a massive Sneak Preview for Ancient Prophecy is just getting started, a Regional Qualifier is underway, and plenty more side events are playing out. But for this single moment the Dueling world turns its focus on one competitor, to congratulate our new and unprecedented four-time SHONEN JUMP Champion – Fili Luna!
