Introducing Konami’s newest tournament series – Konami Presents: The Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series!

These events are the newest in Premier Level tournament play, and will replace the previous SHONEN JUMP Championship tournament series.  KDE has made several tweaks and improvements to the old tournament structure, including the tournament format, prizing and Public Events.

The maximum seated capacity for the main hall here at the Los Angeles Convention Center is 1464 people, a number that we have shattered here today! A second hall is being opened elsewhere in the Convention Center to accommodate the hordes of remaining competitors for today’s SHONEN JUMP Championship main event, and the energy here is nothing short of electric!

We currently have no less than 1625 attendees, an unprecedented number that dwarfs previous events like the 2009 U.S. National Championship and the 50th SHONEN JUMP Championship in Costa Mesa. This isn’t just the biggest Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME tournament of all time – each and every Duelist here today is making history, as they compete in the biggest single TCG tournament ever held! Though a handful of European events (including the Yu-Gi-Oh! event at Amsterdam’s airport a few years ago) have seen four-digit attendance numbers before, the largest of those were divided into several different tournaments. Not so here, as this is one singular competition where any two Duelists could go head-to-head. No divisions, no borders – no one has ever done it before!

To everyone here, and everyone joining us at home – welcome to the biggest TCG tournament ever, SHONEN JUMP Championship Los Angeles!

If you’re age 12 & under and you’re looking to Duel in the big time, you can compete in a Dragon Duel format tournament at any SHONEN JUMP Championship near you!

In July of last year, the U.S. National Championship was held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. There, a young up-and-coming Duelist was winning his Duels in the 12-and-Under National Championship. After several rounds, Naveen Shankar from Maryland emerged as the 12-and-Under National Champion.
