Yu-Gi-Oh! Extravaganza Information
Q: What happens at a Yu-Gi-Oh! Extravaganza event?
A: Starting in 2012, many conventions in North America will host a Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Extravaganza. At a Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Extravaganza there is no large main tournament - instead, Duelists will enjoy a variety of official Konami Public Events, such as 16-Player Regional Qualifiers, Win-A-Mats, Sealed and Draft events, and Dragon Duels. Duelists participating in the Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Extravaganza will have the chance to win an exclusive Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Extravaganza Game Mat.
Seating space, badge requirements and event times will vary from convention to convention. Keep watching www.yugioh-card/com/en/events for additional conventions and dates, along with FAQs for each Extravaganza!

Q: What is a Swiss Round Tournament?
A: Players are paired off based on each player’s win/loss record. Players are not eliminated when they lose a match during Swiss tournaments – instead, they will continue to be paired against players with similar records for all remaining rounds of the event.
Q: What is a Single-Elimination Tournament?
A: Half of the tournament is eliminated after each round – the losing player is out of the tournament, while the winner goes on to the next round. This continues until only one player remains, which is then declared the winner.
Q: What are the rules for the Retro or Classic Draft?
A:
- The 8 Duelists are seated in a random order at a table and then given 3 Booster Packs (3 Retro Pack Volume 2 for Retro Draft & 1 each of Spell Ruler, Pharaoh’s Servant, & Invasion of Chaos for Classic Draft).
- Each Duelist opens one pack and counts the cards face-down to ensure there are 9 cards in the pack. If there are more or less than 9 cards in the pack, please call over a Judge and they will swap the pack for a new pack.
- For Classic Draft, the booster packs should be opened in order of release, Spell Ruler being the first pack opened, followed by Pharaoh’s Servant, and then Invasion of Chaos.
- Each Duelist will then pick up their cards and select one card to keep, placing it face down in front of them, and then passing the remaining cards in the pack face-down to the Duelist on their left.
- Duelists should count out the cards face-down after each pick to ensure that the appropriate number of cards remain in the pack.
- The previous step continues until each Duelist has 9 cards in front of them.
- Each Duelist opens their second pack and counts the cards face-down to ensure there are 9 cards in the pack. If there are more or less than 9 cards in the pack, please call over a Judge and they will swap the pack for a new pack.
- Each Duelist will then pick up their cards and select one card to keep, placing it face down in front of them, and then passing the remaining cards in the pack face-down to the Duelist on their right.
- The previous step continues until each Duelist has 18 cards in front of them.
- Each Duelist opens their third and final pack and counts the cards face-down to ensure there are 9 cards in the pack. If there are more or less than 9 cards in the pack, please call over a Judge and they will swap the pack for a new pack.
- Each Duelist will then pick up their cards and select one card to keep, placing it face down in front of them, and then passing the remaining cards in the pack face-down to the Duelist on their left.
- The previous step continues until each Duelist has 27 cards in front of them.

Q: What are the rules for the Dawn of the Xyz Starter Tournament?
A:
- The 8 Duelists are seated across from their first round opponent.
- Each Duelist is then given 1 sealed Starter Deck: Dawn of the Xyz.
- The Duelists then need to open the Starter Deck and separate the 3 Xyz monsters from the rest of the cards.
- The Duelists will then be given 10 minutes to look over their cards and sleeve their main Deck, should they choose to do so, with tournament-legal sleeves.
- Once steps 2 thru 4 are completed the Duelists then will play against their first round opponent in a best 2-out of-3 match.
