The five booster packs per Duelist are the only product prizes awarded for the SHONEN JUMP Championship.

Q: What is the format for SHONEN JUMP Championship tournaments?

SHONEN JUMP Championship tournaments are Constructed events, which means each Duelist must bring his or her own Deck in order to compete. Decks must be constructed according to the latest Advanced Format guidelines. (See here for more information: http://www.yugioh-card.com/en/limited/#limited_adv).  Please remember that the Advanced Format changed as of September 1st, so you will need to make sure your Deck matches the current format.

SHONEN JUMP Championship tournaments will be run using Swiss Format, which means all Duelists will play a set number of rounds determined by the number of players. Players are not eliminated during the event, and can play through all Swiss rounds. After the Swiss Round portion of the tournament is completed, the 16 top-ranked Duelists will return on Day 2, to participate in a Single Elimination playoff to determine 1st through 4th place.

Swiss Rounds for SHONEN JUMP Championship tournaments

  • 4 – 8 Players:  3 Rounds of Swiss
  • 9 – 16 Players :  4 Rounds of Swiss
  • 17 – 32 Players :  5 Rounds of Swiss
  • 33 – 64 Players :  6 Rounds of Swiss
  • 65 – 128 Players : 7 Rounds of Swiss
  • 129 – 256 Players:  8 Rounds of Swiss
  • 257 – 512 Players:  9 Rounds of Swiss
  • 513 – 1024 Players :  10 Rounds of Swiss
  • 1024 + Players:  11 Rounds of Swiss

Q: Is there anything new and exciting happening at SHONEN JUMP Championship Orlando?

We will be adding a Bounty Feature to SHONEN JUMP Championship Orlando. Here’s how it will work:

At the start of the tournament, a certain number of Duelists (based on the final enrollment total) will be selected and tagged with Konami lanyards. Each of these Bounty Duelists will begin the tournament with a stack of booster packs (4 packs per round) allotted to him or her.

At the start of each round, 4 packs will be removed from each Bounty Duelist’s total, and placed in their Bounty Pile. If the Bounty Duelist wins, he or she receives 2 of the packs from the Bounty Pile, leaving the rest in the pile. If the Bounty Duelist loses, the opponent claims all of the packs in the Bounty Pile.

So, the longer a Bounty Duelist goes undefeated, the more packs you can win if you beat him or her.

If the Bounty Duelist goes undefeated, he or she will keep the entire 32 packs.

Bounty Duelists are chosen for a variety of reasons – including past performances at events, running an innovative or exciting deck, or maybe for wearing a really eye-catching hat.

AT THE TOURNAMENT

Q: How long will the SHONEN JUMP Championship tournament last?

The number of Swiss rounds is determined by the number of players present.  Rounds in the Yu-Gi-Oh! TRADING CARD GAME are 40 minutes long. Since you can play all rounds in a Swiss tournament, you should expect to be at the event for several hours. Duelists who make the Top 16 will need to return on Sunday morning, to compete in the playoff portion of the tournament.

Likewise, the Regional Qualifier on Sunday will also last for some hours, so Duelists should plan on two full days of tournament play, when making their travel arrangements for the weekend.

  • 33-64 players:         8 Invites to the 2010 National Championship
  • 65 – 128 players: 16 Invites to the 2010 National Championship
  • 129 + players:       32 Invites to the 2010 National Championship

If a player who has already received an invite to 2010 Nationals at a Konami Regional Qualifier or SHONEN JUMP Championship earns another one, the invite does not pass down.

Duelists who earn invites will be responsible for completing the 2010 Invite form on-site, in order to be placed on the Invite List. Incomplete information could prevent your invite from being verified by KDE, so make every effort to ensure that your information is complete and legible.

Q: Is there another copy of “Dark End Dragon” being given out in a side event playoff?

There will actually be two copies of “Dark End Dragon” given out for the Side Event Playoff.

Duelists can earn entry points for the Side Event Playoff by participating in side events over the course of the SHONEN JUMP Championship weekend. On Sunday at approximately 3:00 PM, the Side Event competitors will be chosen, as follows:

Playoff 1: Four names will be drawn at random from all entry points. These four competitors will then play two rounds of single elimination to determine a winner, who will receive a copy of the SHONEN JUMP prize card “Dark End Dragon.”

Playoff 2:  The four Duelists who have accumulated the highest number of Side Event points will play two rounds of single elimination to determine a winner, who will receive a copy of the new SHONEN JUMP prize card “Dark End Dragon.”  In case of a points total tie, the selection will be made by random drawing from the tied competitors.

Both of these playoffs will occur simultaneously. One copy of the prize card will be awarded to the winner from each playoff, so a total of two “Dark End Dragon” cards will be given out.
