YU-GI-OH! TRADING CARD GAME
WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2009

Tokyo, Japan
August 8-9, 2009

Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s Trading Card Game World Championship 2009
Welcome to Day 2!

Eight Duelists are back today to fight it out for the title of Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG World Champion 2009 – both of Oceania’s representatives (Alexander Antonios from Australia and Chris Gehrig from New Zealand) are still in the running, along with 5 of the Asian players (Man Lai Au from Hong Kong, Yen-Jui Chien from Taiwan, Kian Sim Kee from Malaysia, Benjamin Hong Hwee Tan from Singapore, and Lee Hong Kyu from South Korea).  Europe and Latin America didn’t manage to get any of their representatives to Day 2, and a lone US representative – Roy St. Clair – takes the remaining spot in the Top 8.

Gladiator Beasts, many running Rescue Cat; along with Blackwings make up the deck types in contention today. Pure Synchro Cat didn’t get any closer than 11th place, which will likely have an impact on the decks we see played in the upcoming events at Gen Con next weekend.

The players are already locked into their quarterfinal matches, and we will continue to bring you updates of the playoffs along with a look at the myriad of side events being offered to the public later on today.

Who’s your pick for the next World Champion? Keep up to date on the coverage to watch how your favorites progress!
